F.E. Price/Agricultural Research Foundation Award for Excellence in Student Advising and Counseling

PURPOSE

To recognize outstanding advising and counseling of undergraduate students in the College of Agricultural Sciences.

NATURE

The recipient will receive $1,000 and a plaque.

ELIGIBILITY

The nominee must be a faculty member or classified staff member in the College of Agricultural Sciences who is actively involved in advising and counseling undergraduate students.

The Dean, Associate Deans, Chief Operating Officer, and all other Agricultural Sciences administration personnel are not eligible to receive or contribute to the nomination for an award. 

CRITERIA

Evaluations will be based on the following criteria:

  • Personal interest in students and positive attitude toward advising responsibilities.
  • Availability to the student (ease of contact), and commitment toward finding and strengthening the advisee's interests and concerns.
  • Knowledge of graduation requirements, academic regulations, and procedures.
  • Willingness to address students' long-range goals and objectives, and assist in placement of temporary and/or long-range employment opportunities.

NOMINATION MATERIALS:

In addition to the base nomination materials required for all awards (one (1) paragraph bio-summary, letter of nomination, and three (3) supporting letters), nomination packets must also include:

  1. The nomination letter should summarize the advising and counseling accomplishments of the nominee at Oregon State University, in addition to:
    1. Include a summary of the role or a method the nominee plays/uses in the advising and counseling in their administrative unit.
    2. Provide evidence of a successful program and address the criteria above.
  2. Supporting letters should be from advisees (both current and former) and/or colleagues.
  3. A professional/abbreviated resume (3 pg. max.).
  4. Position description.

Complete nomination packets (combined into one PDF document) should be emailed to CAS-Deans.Approval@oregonstate.edu no later than 5:00 pm on April 9, 2026. Corrections or updates to nomination packets will not be accepted after the nomination deadline.
