PURPOSE:
To recognize and celebrate the distinguished career of former employees within the College of Agricultural Sciences at Oregon State University based on excellence in teaching, research and outreach.
NATURE:
One cash award of $1,000 will be made.
The recipient will receive a cash award, a plaque, and their picture will be displayed by the College of Agricultural Sciences. The formal announcement and presentation of the award will be made at the College of Agricultural Sciences' Faculty and Staff Luncheon.
ELIGIBILITY:
The nominees must be a former employee within the College of Agricultural Sciences. The award is intended to honor the career of truly outstanding employees who have had a significant and lasting impact on the college, university and people of Oregon. Although there is no minimum time of service required for the award, it is anticipated that the nominees will have spent a significant portion of their career at OSU.
Nominees who are not selected may be nominated again the following year.
CRITERIA:
Evaluations will be based on the following criteria:
- Exceptional service and leadership in their performance of duties
- Excellence in accomplishments in the mission areas of the college; teaching, research and outreach
- Service to the college and university
- Evidence of recognition beyond the university
The nomination materials should document the sustained contributions of the nominee.
Nominations:
Nominations should be coordinated through the respective department or administrative unit. Complete nomination packets (.pdf format) should be emailed to CAS-Deans.Approval@oregonstate.edu by 5:00 pm on April 3rd, 2023.
Nomination Materials:
- Letter of nomination consisting of no more than two single-spaced pages
- Two to three letters of support attesting to the quality and impact of the nominee’s outstanding contributions
A nomination packet may be resubmitted with the previous year's letters of support. An updated nomination letter must be prepared.
The College of Agricultural Sciences Awards Committee, composed of CAS faculty and staff, will make their recommendations to the Dean. The Dean will make the final selection of the award recipient in consultation with the Associate Deans.
