Nursery & Greenhouse

The production program integrates pest management, plant propagation, plant nutrition, soil science, ecology, economics, and policy. Current research themes include precision spray applications. Our team compares pesticide applications by a laser guided air-assisted spray system and a conventional air-assisted spray system. We also compare commercially available soil moisture sensors and evaluate their performance, consistency, accuracy, and affordability for the purpose of irrigation management for nursery crops. Finally, we collaborate with OSU community horticulturalist to evaluate new varieties of plants that may be well suited as drought tolerant ground covers in Pacific Northwest climates.
