Message from the Dean

It is my privilege to serve as the Reub Long Dean and Director of the College of Agricultural Sciences and the Oregon Agricultural Experiment Station.

Oregon’s natural resources and agriculture are incredibly diverse with more than 220 agricultural commodities. That dense diversity affords us the opportunity to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges across multiple disciplines and areas of research.

We are uniquely able to lead advances in agricultural competitiveness and resilience, innovation for health, markets and access to food, working and natural landscapes, and coastal food systems and conservation. It is hard to think of another agricultural college anywhere that has that breadth of expertise across such diverse areas and ecosystems.

I invite you to explore our website to learn more about what we do and why we do it—our teaching, our research, and our outreach.

In all of what we do, the commitment to our land grant mission grounds us in service to others with the unwavering belief that all people should have access to opportunity to learn and pursue their dreams. Each day, our students, faculty, and other partners remain focused on a singular vision—make tomorrow better.
