OSU College of Agricultural Sciences is honored to welcome Portland, OR-based Mexican American artist, Humberto González to Strand Gallery! A renowned plein air watercolorist, retired educator, and longtime supporter of the OSU Art About Agriculture Program, González writes:
“Painting directly from nature is about paying attention. Keen observation can earn the right to interpretation and transformation, ways of seeing which can lead to creative exploration of the measures and relationships which abound in the natural world.”
In 1999, Humberto González retired from Lebanon High School where he taught Art and Spanish for 28 years. González exhibits regularly in Oregon Society of Artists opportunities, Art About Agriculture annual tours, and through representation at Karin Clarke Gallery.
Humberto González has received three purchase awards and acquisitions into the Art About Agriculture Permanent Collection: Lamb Memorial Purchase Awards for Snow Peak Orchard in 1991 (ICN: 91-06) and Remains of the Homestead in 1994 (ICN: 94-05), and 2021 Brose and Hood Memorial Purchase Awards for Rural Heritage (ICN: 2021-02).
