OSU Hatfield Marine Science Center and the College of Agricultural Sciences are thrilled to present the touring exhibition of Betty LaDuke’s recent work, Turtle Wisdom: Personal, Political, Playful. LaDuke writes:
“[Turtle Wisdom] evolved both symbolically and as a personal necessity to affirm life’s continuity. It reminds us of the choices we make to enjoy, protect, and honor Mother Earth and each other.”
LaDuke’s paintings, books, and numerous exhibitions draw inspiration from immersive exploration of cultural diversity around the world, with an emphasis on women’s creative contributions, women’s work in food production, and social change. Her art can be found in noteworthy collections across Oregon, including the Portland Art Museum, Schneider Museum of Art, Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, Hallie Ford Museum of Art, Oregon State University, Medford Airport, and the Oregon State Capital.
