“I have lived in Oregon all my life and treasure the beauty of the state. With the career I have chosen, I found it necessary to have a hobby to relieve stress and use the creativity within me. My first endeavor was gardening, which I still enjoy and use for inspiration in my metalwork. I like working with ferrous and nonferrous metal because in its raw form it is rigid, plain material with no character. Using heat, hammer, muscle and mind, it is transformed into the beauty and useful artwork. My dream is for ornamental ironwork, both traditional and contemporary to be used as regularly in architecture today as it was earlier in the 20th century.”
